Guardian Technologies International Names Richard Borrelli VP of Business Development, Healthcare Systems

DULLES, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 28, 2004--Guardian Technologies International, Inc. (OTCBB:GDTI - News), a developer of imaging technologies for healthcare radiology and homeland security, announces the appointment of Richard Borrelli as Vice President of Business Development of its Healthcare Systems division.
Mr. Borrelli will be responsible for building Guardian's radiology informatics business and managing strategic alliance and partnerships in the U.S. and Europe. He will direct on-going system development, as well as sales and implementation of radiology information systems (RIS) and picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) in the U.S. and Europe. Mr. Borrelli will be instrumental in developing and executing the marketing strategy for Guardian's recently acquired Wise Systems Ltd. integrated RIS/PACS product line as Guardian seeks to expand its presence in Europe, penetrate the U.S. market and capture its share of the $98 billion global healthcare informatics marketplace projected for 2005. The integrated RIS/PACS system provides radiology patient information, image management, web-based imaging, and information distribution to the healthcare enterprise.

Mr. Borrelli comes to Guardian with 26 years of worldwide business development, marketing and sales experience in healthcare radiology informatics and image management. Most recently, Mr. Borrelli was a business consultant to entrepreneurial imaging and radiology companies. Previously, he was director of Implementation and Professional Services for IDX Corporation's radiology information business, where he helped the company restructure, accelerate revenue growth and reduce customer installation costs. Prior to that he held director-level positions in Sales, Marketing and Business Development for Analogic Corporation, a medical imaging firm and was VP of Global Marketing for Polaroid Corporation's Medical Imaging Systems Division. His prior experience also includes Director positions in Marketing, Product Management and business development for AGFA Corporation's Medical Division, Matrix Instruments Corporation, Telectronics' Cardiac Medical Division, GE Medical Systems and Johnson & Johnson's Technicare Corporation.
